About Mike Walker...

The bright lights of Branson, Missouri advertise the many shows and talents of those who perform there, but one individual stands out with an extraordinary talent. The phrase, “A man with a thousand voices,” could be used to describe the talents of Branson artist, Mike Walker.

From the early age of five Mike admits he knew what he desired to accomplish in life - sing and make music. “I have been entertaining people all my life, everything in my career, the good, the bad, and the ugly has led me to where I am today. I have opened shows for some really awesome artists. To be able to do what I love for a living, still have my family, the support of my friends, people who care about what I do, and a God that still leads me; these are the biggest highlights of my career.”

Mike possesses the unique gift of impersonating the sound of other well-known artists such as; Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty, and many others. Walker performs his impersonations along with his own original songs at The Hamner Variety Theatre in Branson Monday through Friday with Matinees at 2pm. “My show is a lot of fun for me, I really enjoy what I do. I like singing my songs and I also like singing songs other artists have had success with. I have a couple shows but my favorite is my Lasting Impressions Show where I showcase some of my very own music.”

Mike is truly a unique artist; his vast repertoire of impersonations could never be experienced in just one show. He says, “My first musical experience that I can recall was listening to Elvis Presley’s Moody Blue record, followed by the influences of greats such as; Marty Robbins, Roy Orbison, Conway Twitty, and Sam Cooke. I pull a lot from different genres. I really like Jason Crabb, his voice has something ‘real.’ When I hear him sing, I believe he means the words he is singing.”

He continues, “I had moderate success in Country music with my first chart hit entitled, “Honey Do,” released when I was signed with DreamWorks Nashville and Dale Morris and Associates. The video was on CMT and GAC and the album was my first international release with 14 songs. You would think that with all those individuals involved in my career I would have been a household name!”

Like most artists, Mike knows all too well the pitfalls of the music business. “Trying to become anything without drama is a challenge, but everything that glitters is not gold. You have to remember what is important and what you think is success. If you listen to others with regards to success, everyone has a different perspective. I am blessed! My success is in the eyes of my children and the smile on my wife’s face every time I walk through the door. Being able to sleep at night because I value honesty and integrity is a huge part of my reward. It is not easy, but it is obtainable!”

Speaking about his newest project, Mike shares, “The Best of Mike Walker” is one of my favorite projects I have ever done. The songs on this project are at the top of my music catalog. I don’t normally listen to my own stuff, but my kids ask to hear it in the car every morning on the way to school, so I will take that all day every day. The Ultimate Veteran - the first single off this project -  came to me one night before a performance and I am very proud of it and the musicians and backup singers along with the studio, they were all very top notch.”

Mike serves as one of the worship leaders at his home church and is quick to tell you, “God saved me from myself so many times! I am most happy when I let Him have control. It can get pretty tense when the finances aren’t where they need to be, or you aren’t where you think you should be in your career. Believe me, some people won’t admit it, but they think it, it’s hard not to, but as a Bible believing Christian, we have to put ourselves in check and let God do what He does and get out of the way!”

“Every day is part of my testimony, I encounter a lot of different scenarios, temptations, frustrations, great stories, and awesome people daily. The fact that I still love to sing is a testimony, I am still looking forward to seeing what path God has made for me and my family!”
